I began working with James from High Rise at the beginning of last season. I had been planning to tackle my first year back on the race circuit alone, having self coached myself for a while.
Immediately James got me sorted with a challenging but manageable style of training and within weeks I was feeling the results. To say James is a supportive coach is a complete understatement! We discuss and set long and short term goals as part of a yearly plan which really puts things in perspective and gives us both continual focus.
There is so much more to mountain biking than I even considered a year ago. After only one season of working with James I have already become Scottish series champion and the non-elite British champion! Results I would have not achieved if it hadn’t been for an effective, enjoyable but painful at times training plan from an encouraging, motivating and brilliant coach!

James and Andy of High Rise Coaching attended the annual Army Downhill Team training camp in North Wales. They were on hand to offer coaching and training tips to not only the newer riders but also to those that have been riding and racing for years. The knowledge they both have in downhill specific coaching is fantastic.
They took us right back to basics and used video analysis on each of us. Over the course of the coaching each of us improved in the areas we were weak in. They had some of the team jumping and doing drops they previously were unable to do.
James has also been working with some of the team over the past year, giving us specific exercises all geared towards downhill racing. All of us have seen an improvement in both skills and fitness and this is a testament to High Rise.
